Call me Sage. I garden. Ever since I was a kid I’ve grown, or tried to grow, just about anything with leaves and roots. Just about the only thing that’s changed is the size and scope of my efforts. Window boxes and balconies may have been good enough at one point, but now I’m more into acreage.
Over the years from personal efforts and commercial growing experience (it’s my job to raise all the herbs, flowers and various botanicals that go into A. H. Mercantile’s soap and bath products), I’ve managed to accumulate a fair amount of knowledge, tips and tricks on growing a wide range of herbs, natives, sub-tropicals and unusual plants. What’s more, I don’t like chemical fertilizers or pesticides and I’m kind of a cheapskate (more out of necessity than choice), so I’ve figured out all sorts of ways to raise great looking/yielding plants without throwing the environment out of whack or breaking the bank. As a result people are frequently asking advice or looking for ideas, and I’m often doing the same, so a blog like this seems to be a good way to share information.
