Hey, did you realize that you can literally hypnotize a chicken by holding it and drawing a line in the dirt over and over? Supposedly the chicken will stay still right there as long as you do this.
I’m going to check this out.

Believe it or not, we aren’t the only “Chicken Cam” on the web. Seems lots of folks share our penchant for throwing a camera down and watching what poultry really do all day. (So Wild Kingdom, don’t you think?)
One of the more entertaining ones is Vasalini’s Chicken Cam (is “Vasalini” a real name?) — which offers not just cool chicken video feeds, but audio too. (Sounds… oooh.)
The camera and mike seems to be down by the feed box, so you do get a lot of chicken butts (and corresponding sounds) right up in your face, but it’s a hoot to watch nonetheless. Check them out:

Sure live poultry is exciting, but flinging them at friends and family is a lot of work. First of all they’re not all that crazy about being flung around so you have to do a fair amount of work to catch them. Plus, some of them are heavy — 10lbs or more — so wacking someone with one could put an eye out, cause a concussion, or who knows what.
Fortunately the folks over at Archie McPhee have thought this one through and delivered a safer (and nearly as much fun) solution: The Chicken Chucker and Chuck-a-Duck — a couple of handheld pistol-style catapults that hurl little plastic poultry.
Personally I’m a little more fond of the Chuck-a-Duck as it comes equipped with little red devil duckies (plus you can pick up a Tub o’ Mini Devil Ducks should you need extra ammo). But regardless of the barnyard poultry camp into which you fall, you’re guaranteed to have some fun flicking someone upside the head with one of these.
Checkout all the Poultry fun (and other good stuff) at Archie McPhee.
(Hat tip to Trixie at Thirty Two Flavors for pointing these out to me.)
